TOOMSUBA -- It's self-evident that the worst time to buy an RV campground is late fall. Winter business is slow and the busy season is six months off. Yet Lionel and Chris Waldman bought the Meridian East/Toomsuba KOA Kampground last October 25.

To stretch credulity another notch, Lionel is a native of a New York City suburb and Chris is a self described "Air Force Brat" who's lived all over the world. And to ratchet all of this even further, they moved from booming San Antonio where Lionel had retired as a psychiatrist colonel in the army and Chris had been a registered medical and psychiatric nurse. So it's no wonder that their friends asked, "Why?"
