JACKSON -- It reads like an entrepreneurial fairy tale: A man is awakened in the night with the idea for a simple yet innovative product. He shares the idea with his brother, who sees the product's potential. Three years after going into production and using the most basic of marketing strategies -- samples shown from the back of a pickup truck and a do-it-yourself Web site -- the two men can count customers in almost every state in the country, have nearly quadrupled their original manufacturing space and will soon see their product prominently displayed on a popular national television show.

Far from fantasy, that indeed is the story of PortStone Inc. and brothers Dennis and Johnny Manor, vice president and president, respectively. The story picks up in the late 1970s when Johnny joined his father to form a foundation business in Yazoo County. (The brothers are Bentonia natives)....
