James Frazier proudly put up a Son in Service flag on the front door of his family's Campton Township home in January when his oldest boy went off to fight in Afghanistan.

That flag's blue star turned gold this weekend, as a traditional source of pride became a symbol of sorrow.

"At 9:15 (a.m.) we got a call," James Frazier said, describing how the terrible news came Saturday to him and his wife, Joyce.

His son, Staff Sgt. Jacob L. Frazier, had been seriously injured in an ambush somewhere in Afghanistan.
