Lake Villa resident Sandra Stevenson claims she thought her hard work for Wal-Mart Stores Inc. meant she'd be rewarded with promotions.

Instead, Stevenson contends in a sexual discrimination lawsuit her work ethic got her nowhere at the Wal-Mart-owned Sam's Club store in Gurnee because of a "boy's club" atmosphere. She maintains men were treated better than female employees.

Stevenson is the only Illinois woman involved in the suit which, if it receives official class-action status this summer, could become one of the largest filed against a private company in U.S. legal history, experts say.
