One day the sun entangled himself in a tree, and the earth plunged into darkness. A little squirrel lost its tail, had its fur burnt off and went blind, but gnawed at the tree's branches until the heavenly globe could rise again. As a reward, the sun changed the naked creature, who had always wanted to fly, into the first bat.
