The steel wire market is a tough one, but that hasn't discouraged Joseph A. Higdon, president of BCS Industries Inc. in Memphis, Tenn., from adding to his wire drawing holdings through the acquisition of two struggling Northeast Ohio wire processing operations.

BCS (formerly Bluff City Steel) at the end of December bought the assets of the former Cuyahoga Steel & Wire LLC in Solon. The company paid $6.8 million for the 235,000-square-foot Cuyahoga Steel & Wire plant at 31000 Solon Road. The acquisition was BCS' second in Northeast Ohio, following the 2001 purchase of the...
