St. Charles Post 342 pitcher Nick Rotunno isn't used to pitching with a lot of run support.

So when his offense gave him 3 runs before he even took the mound, the usually pumped-up Rotunno had an extra bounce in his step.

"We were kind of joking about it before we went out," catcher Max Payleitner said. "We laughed about it."

The 3-run first turned into a 5-2 cushion after two innings as Post 342 knocked off Barrington Post 153 6-4 in the semifinal round of Second Division tournament play at Libertyville.

St. Charles (25-12) faces host Libertyville (29-9) at noon today, followed by a second game only if St. Charles wins. St. Charles would have to defeat Libertyville twice in order to advance to next week's American Legion...
