Some restaurants have such a comfortable atmosphere that you can't help but return time and again. I have found such a place; it's the Mission Hills Cafe on Washington Street. Open at 7 every morning for breakfast, this is a cafe where you can get more than just the traditional breakfast items.

The cafe offers nine different omelettes. My favorite is the No. 6 -- bacon, avocado, and cheddar cheese served with rosemary potatoes, and a basket of warm bread and muffins for $7.25. Another sunrise treat here is the Belgian Waffle, topped with strawberries, bananas, and whipped cream. It is truly one of the best waffles served in San Diego for $6.
