Love it or leave it?
American deaths by terrorism in 2001: 3,245. American deaths from government-subsidized tobacco-related illness in 2001: 440,000. Did somebody just say weapons of mass destruction?
Increasingly, my image of America is one of an impossibly overweight man with all of obesity's attendant health problems, standing in front of a full-length mirror, trying to see his flexed muscles under all the flab, puffing out what's left of his chest, and saying, "Oh, yeah - lookin' good!"
Those who would heap armchair-soldier scorn on those protesting this upcoming and inevitable war would do well to remember that many of them saw combat in World War II, Korea and Vietnam. "Love it or leave!" you say? A phrase like that only demonstrates that, for many, it's easier to participate in killing human beings they know very little about than to admit that, heaven forbid, they might be in the wrong.
Love it or leave it? Sorry, I'm an American and proud of it. If I didn't care about this country, I wouldn't ask questions.
