Article Excerpt FRAMINGHAM, Mass. -- FRAMINGHAM, Mass., March 3 /PRNewswire/ -- February's CIO Magazine Tech Poll(TM) shows "profits remain the weakest link for IT spending. CIOs' budgets aren't likely to grow much faster in 2003 than they did in 2002 unless earnings improve significantly," says Dr. Ed Yardeni, Chief Investment Strategist for Prudential Securities Inc.
"Overall IT spending in 2003 should show an improvement from 2002, given the estimated 5.2% pickup expected by CIOs over the next 12 months. However, the timing and magnitude of an improvement remains cloudy," adds George Elling, Managing Director, Enterprise and PC Hardware Research for Deutsche Bank Securities.
"In spite of threats of war and terror, CIOs have not changed their 2003 spending outlook from last month to this month," says Gary Beach, Group Publisher of CIO magazine. "They continue to look for ways to leverage the Internet to lower procurement costs."
