Isabelle George
Isabelle Hoover George of Eugene died Jan. 26 of age-related causes. She was 100.
George was born Oct. 9, 1902, in Clearwater, Pa. She married Ted George in Eugene in 1931. He died in December 1989.
She grew up in Tacoma and moved to Eugene in about 1930. She graduated from high school in Washington and later attended secretarial school. She worked as a secretary for the Willamette National Forest until retiring in April 1958. She enjoyed gardening, her pets, playing cards and collecting antique dishware. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Eugene.
Survivors include a son, Tom, of Eugene.
Private services will be held. Burial will be at West Lawn Memorial Park & Funeral Home.
Memorial contributions can be made to the First United Methodist Church, 1376 Olive St., Eugene.
Robert Marchbank
Robert Lewis "Bob" Marchbank of Eugene died Jan. 23 of age-related causes. He was 92.
Marchbank was born Sept. 25, 1910, in Estacada to Robert and Mable Linn Marchbank. He married Dorothea "Doy" Woods in Washington on Aug. 20, 1933. She died Feb. 15, 1974. He married Fern Harms on April 3, 1976. She died Nov. 22, 1992.
He graduated from Estacada High School in 1929. He worked for Bob Cook Motor Company and A.B. Smith Ford Motor Company in Estacada before moving to Eugene in 1935. He worked as a manager for Valley Chevrolet (later Silva Chevrolet and Romania Chevrolet) and retired in 1975.
He was a life member and past exalted ruler of the Eugene Elks Lodge 357. He was also a life member of the Masons McKenzie River Lodge 195 and a 57-year member of United Commercial Travelers No. 681.
Survivors include two daughters, Nyla Rettinger of Eugene and Patricia Mason of Junction City; three stepsons, Mike...
