Goldie Hawn and Susan Sarandon star as the Banger Sisters (Frank Zappa gave them the name), two groupies from the '60s who spent intimate time with many famous rock artists.
Twenty years have passed, and Suzette (Hawn) has lost her job as a bartender at the Whisky-A-Go-Go. She has no money, and needs a loan. Suzette decides to track down her old friend Vinnie (Sarandon), married and living in Arizona. She has remade herself as Lavinia, a conservative lady, married to a lawyer and mother of two. Lavinia is not excited when she sees Suzette coming down her driveway. She has put her wild past behind her.
At the same time, Suzette has picked up Harry (Geoffrey Rush), who is with her in Phoenix. He is eccentric, and weird in his own way. Within time, Lavinia loosens up, and is able to see another side of...
