- Elizabeth LaDew, a senior at Schaumburg High School, was awarded a Presidential Scholarship to attend North Central College in Naperville. LaDew is the daughter of Connie Fox of Hoffman Estates.

- Cadet Joseph Larsen, son of Gail Larsen of Schaumburg, was named the recipient of the Dean Harrison Award for the second six weeks grading period at Howe Military School. Larsen, a sixth- grader, has attended the school in Indiana since August 2002.

Cadet Larsen was judged against his peers in the areas of military procedures, current events, school history, appearance and rules and regulations. Larsen was also named to the superintendent's list for the second six-week grading period for attaining 4.0 grade-point average in his studies in a college prep curriculum.
