Improving playing conditions at the Libertyville golf course at Riverside Park could produce a bonus for the village.

Converting a portion of the course to wetland would give duffers less room to maneuver but would provide Libertyville with an inventive source of cash. Now, all that's needed is a developer willing to buy the rights to the property.

Those "wetland credits" could fetch about $60,000 per acre. The proceeds would be used for drainage and other improvements.

"Our goal here is to get it done but have somebody else pay for it," said Randy Reopelle, head of the village's park and recreation department. "This is our first crack...
