Last weekend, Oregon women's basketball coach Bev Smith said the game against winless Washington State was not about avoiding the threat of being the first team to fall to the Cougars in nearly two years.

And it was not about Washington State.

"It was about us," she said. And it still is as the Ducks begin the second half of the Pac-10 Conference season at 7 tonight with a game against Arizona State at McArthur Court.

Oregon is 3-6 in the league race, its worst beginning to a Pac-10 season since losing the first 10 games of the conference race in 1992-93. Overall, the Ducks - playing just their third home game this month - are 7-11.
