PROJECT OVERVIEW:
A Thai/Japanese joint venture was recently awarded a contract to build a new power distribution system in the country. The partners in the planned undertaking include the local ITALIAN-THAI DEVELOPMENT PLC (ITD) and Japan-based NISHIMATSU CONSTRUCTION CO. LTD.
The electrical installation in question is to be built at the new Bangkok International Airport. The cost to install the network has been pegged at $45,000,000. And, project completion is scheduled in about 26 months time.
ITALIAN-THAI employs a total staff of about 18,300 and acts as a holding company. It is engaged in contracting in the infrastructure area including buildings and plants, telecommunications, highways and bridges as well as railways, pipelines, steel fabrication and related land development.
NISHIMATSU has a total employment of some 4,800 and operates as a general contractor on a worldwide scale.
