Some 18,500 jobs were added to the payrolls of San Diego employers in the past year, the second strongest showing in the state, according to the latest report from the state's Employment Development Department.

"The only other area that gained more jobs than San Diego was the metropolitan Riverside-San Bernardino area that showed an increase of 25,800 jobs," said Cheryl Mason, an EDD analyst.
