Sheldon took care of one of its goals for the season Friday night.

The third-ranked Irish defeated Springfield 43-2 at Sheldon High School to clinch at least a share of the Midwestern League football title and the No. 1 seed in the playoffs.

"It is nice to get the No. 1 seed and play our first playoff game at home," senior lineman Jared Hinkle said. "It's good for our seniors to win their last regular-season game on (their home) field."
