A couple times a year, or so it seems, I get a new disc from CaseSoft, the folks who produce the CaseMap suite of litigation support software - CaseMap, TimeMap, NoteMap and TextMap. NoteMap is a pretty decent outliner, great for folks who plan and think best in outline form, and who don't like the outline features in the word processing program of choice. TextMap reads transcripts and lets you export- the developer uses the word "blast" - excerpts into CaseMap. TimeMap produces a custom time line graphic, a useful aid as you attempt to puzzle out what really happened in your case, and excellent for what must have been its real purpose: to develop graphic displays for the jury.
CaseMap, itself, is a little more difficult to describe. The program is, at bottom, a database in mostly spreadsheet-like format, for storing every piece of information that you have about your case, and also every bit...
