PDF Factory and FinePrint.

I continue to find PDF files --- that is, files formatted to Adobe's Portable Document Format standards --- ever more important in my practice. All sorts of documents and forms come to me as PDF. Within the past couple of weeks I have downloaded PDF forms from the Illinois Secretary of State to incorporate a new Illinois corporation, from the Internal Revenue Service to obtain a Federal Employers Identification Number for that corporation and from a local Bank to create a Land Trust to be controlled by the new corporation. I was also able to take other documents that I had drafted in my word processor program and convert them to PDF files. Everything was e-mailed to the client as attachments, printed, signed and sent to appropriate destinations by overnight delivery and fast action by the appropriate recipients.

It all got done quickly, and I could be reasonably certain that the documents signed and forwarded by my client were accurate and, except for the signatures, looked exactly the same as the ones I "drafted", even though we may have had different printers and different computer platforms. (PDF is one place that the users of Windows, Apple Macintosh and Linux and Unix operating systems can share the same electronics and printed documents.)
