Article Excerpt Last week I wrote of the mysteries of TimeMatters, the venerable Practice Management software recently purchased by LexisNexis. ("Venerable", in this context, means only that the original version was at least old enough to have been written for MS-DOS. Obviously Version 5, the latest version, is up to date.) This week I'll continue on with the program's BillingMatters time and billing module. Although BillingMatters is available as a separate, standalone program, I'll assume for the purposes of this review that anyone interested in the program will be using it together with TimeMatters.
[Getting Started]
If you've installed TimeMatters and obtained the appropriate unlocking key from the program developer, you also have BillingMatters installed and ready to go. Well, perhaps not quite "ready to go", as there is lots to do before you get bills out. Presumably, you've already set up your clients and matters in the appropriate lists, and have been entering information about them into your system. Before you go further, and before you began to enter time and expense records, now is the time to choose from the myriad options offered by the program.
First, use your Mouse to go to the "by now familiar from TimeMatters Program Level Setup (under the File - Setup - General pulldown menu) and click on the previously unused "Billing" Tab to...
