The California Institute for Telecommunications and Information Technology [Cal-[(IT).sup.2]] and the UCSD Jacobs School of Engineering are inviting the San Diego community to take advantage of a new, free, traffic notification--alertand automated-response system that could help speed your daily commute. You can get real-time traffic reports by calling the fully automated toll free number (866) 500-0977. You also can get highly personalized traffic reports by signing up at http://traffic.calit2.net. The system will provide traffic speed on the highways and your estimated travel time.

The San Diego Wireless Traffic Report [powered by [Cal-[(IT).sup.2]] is a new service created by institute researcher Ganapathyz Chockalingam, and initially deployed at the request of the San Diego Police Department during Super Bowl XXXVII. The multi-modal service gathers receives data feed from Caltrans information on accidents, road closures, and speed sensors along San Diego freeways...
