PROJECT OVERVIEW:

The local REFINERIA LA PAMPILLA S.A. recently awarded a lump sum turnkey contract to a French/Spanish joint venture for the expansion of its refinery located in La Pampilla adjacent Lima, Peru. The partners in the planned undertaking include France-based TECHNIP-COFLEXIP and DRAGADOS INDUSTRIAL of Spain, a subsidiary of GRUPO DRAGADOS.

According to the terms of the award, the partnership will be responsible for installing: - A new vacuum; - A Visbreaker; - Merox and sour water treatment plants; - A crude unit and related utilities overhaul.

The upgrade project, of undisclosed cost, is scheduled for completion in about 23 months time.

TECHNIP-COFLEXIP resulted from TECHNIP's acquisition of COFLEXIP in October 2001. The company employs a total employment of about 18,000 and is considered to rank among the top 5 in the field of oil and petrochemical engineering, construction and services. It is organized in 3 distinct branches of activity including: offshore, onshore and down stream in addition to non-petroleum industries.

DRAGADOS employs a total workforce of approximately 51,000 and operates through 200 subsidiaries. The group is involved in construction, the provision of services to companies and communities, industrial engineering, infrastructure concession and management as well as the environment among other activities.
