Boeh Ingelheim reports flat sales for 2003 but organic growth is above market pace.

German independent, family-owned pharmaceutical company Boehringer Ingelheim has reported relatively flat sales and earnings for 2003 but an organic growth rate over that of the global pharmaceutical market for the year.

Speaking at the company's annual conference in Ingelheim, Germany, chairman Alessandro Banchi said: "once again we posted sound growth which is not so far behind the excellent business year of 2002." He went on to say that, in 2003, the firm held sixth place on the grid of top 20 pharmaceutical companies in terms of market growth and, according to IMS Health, BI achieved a growth rate of 12.1% versus the market average of 9%.
