Jurgen Schuster, based in Mannheim, Germany, has brought many unique ideas to school and kindergarten photography. Formerly a marketing manager in industry, Schuster launched a project in 1985 where he provided photographers working in portrait and school photography with a marketing concept that enabled them to grow their businesses.

The Photo Partner concept Schuster developed linked a number of regional photographers under a common marketing strategy with the name "Boys & Girls." By 1988, Schuster was so successful, he gave up his other activities to concentrate solely on Boys & Girls. In 1991, he moved the company, Boys & Girls Fotografie GmbH, to a new building in Mannheim with its own laboratory. About 150 photographers from Germany work with the company as "Photo Partners."
