PROJECT OVERVIEW:

The local ABU DHABI CO. FOR ONSHORE OIL OPERATIONS (ADCO) is currently gearing-up to increase oil production from its onshore Rumaitha and Al-Dabbiyah fields. In so doing the company is aiming to attain a sustainable capacity ranging between 150,000 and 180,000 barrels per day. As a result, ADCO recently retained the services of US-based VECO CORP. to act as project manager.

As things currently stand, the front-end engineering and design (FEED) study has been completed by TECHNIP-COFLEXIP of France. And, an invitation to bid on the development is tentatively scheduled to be issued some time in July 2002. Accordingly, the technical and commercial bids are expected to be returned by the following September and November.

ADCO plans to make a contract award by January 2003. The development project, of undisclosed cost is, then expected to require 40 to 42 months to complete.

ADCO employs a total staff of about 1,400 involved in offshore oil exploration, development and production on behalf of the state-owned ABU DHABI NATIONAL OIL CO. (ADNOC) and foreign shareholders.
