PROJECT OVERVIEW:
US-based DOE RUN RESOURCES CORP. currently operates a lead, zinc and copper smelter, dubbed La Oroya, in the central Peruvian Andes. And, the company is presently involved in a $304,000,000 10-year investment program aimed at bringing the smelter up to international standards.
In so doing, the corporation is proposing to commit $110,000,000 over the next 5 years in order to build sulfuric acid treatment plants. In addition, DOE RUN is also planning to spend $39,000,000 in various upgrades and environmental programs.
DOE RUN, a mining and metals company, is acknowledged to be America's largest integrated lead producer. In addition it is also involved in the fabrication of copper, zinc and gold that are processed at the company's South American operation in Peru.
