Evolution Robotics, Inc. (Pasadena, CA, 626-229-3199)(www.evolution.com), a provider of innovative robotics technologies and component solutions, has introduced the NorthStar(tm) hardware and software localization solution designed to allow mobile to navigate more intelligently in indoor environments (such as, for example, factories).
NorthStar uses photonic technology to enable any electronic product to know exactly where it is in its environment in real time. Since NorthStar is designed to provide reliable localization performance and an economical cost, the NorthStar solution (which will be available in for ordering in quantity by the end of the year) could enable, for example, consumer products with the ability to reliably and directly return to a recharging station from anywhere in the environment, to automatically perform or not perform particular functions based on location, or to systematically patrol with high precision.
