Now that my eldest daughter is attending college and working part time, I am getting a chance to see how the habits she learned in home-schooling translate into the college environment. It is interesting to see her get up and do her reading or studies in the mornings. She still sits with her brother and sister in the home-school room, and does her work there. When she does research for a paper, she gets them to help her search the Internet, because they are both more computer-savvy than she is. She goes to the library to pick up reference books, and takes her siblings along to get some books they want.

When she has a term paper to do, she discusses the topic with everyone. We debate the types of information that would be necessary, and make suggestions. She does all the research and finds the points that she wants to include. Then, just as she did in her...
