NEW YORK -- The Conference Board reports today that the leading index for Australia increased 0.3 percent, and the coincident index also increased 0.3 percent in February.



-- The leading index continued to show strength in February, as seven of the eight components in the leading index increased. Although stock prices declined, other financial indicators as well as exports and housing activity remained strong. The leading index is now 5.4 percent above its February 2001 level. -- The moderate growth in the coincident index appears to be continuing.
