RIDGELAND -- The project has proved to be a land use issue, a real estate development issue and a place-building issue, but as far as Clinton G. Herring Jr. is concerned, that is the way the project -- the Township at Colony Park -- should be.

It is the issue of place, however, that is most important, said Herring, president of Kerioth Corporation and Kerioth Construction Inc.

"Winston Churchill said the way we build our buildings shapes our people," Herring said. "What we've done in this country is build buildings in a relative lack of order. It's not the building, but the place, that means something to you. Effectively what you should have are little townships interconnected by logical street grids."
