Developers plans $100M project in Genoa Twp.

A $100 million residential project is planned in Genoa Township by two Farmington Hills-based developers.

Balberman Properties Corp. and Crescendo Homes Inc. received rezoning approval last week from Genoa Township for 190 acres south of Brighton Road and east of Chilson Road. The land for the Preserve of Genoa project was previously zoned agricultural.

The project calls for 175 single-family homes and 125 condominium units in duplexes, said Nick Balberman, president of Balberman Properties. Average home prices will be around $400,000, he said.

"It's very close to shopping, first-rate schools and downtown Brighton,'' Balberman said.

The developers plan to submit site plans within the next 30 days and would build the project in three phases.

Township minutes show the development also would include conservation areas and a bike path. The project is expected to add about 1,000 residents to the township. Township officials did not return calls in time for deadline.
