News and notes of servicemen and women from the Fox Valley area:

- Air Force Airman 1st Class Eliezer Colon graduated from basic military training at Lackland Air Force Base, San Antonio, Texas.

During the six weeks of training, Colon studied the Air Force mission, organization and customs, and received special training in human relations. In addition, airmen who complete basic training earn credits toward an associate degree through the Community College of the Air Force.

Colon is the son of Miriam Bernier of Guayama, Puerto Rico and Eliezer Colon Rivera of Elgin. He is a 1996 graduate of Ana J. Candelas School in Cidra, Puerto Rico.

- Air Force Airman Eric M. McCracken graduated from basic military training at Lackland Air Force Base, San Antonio, Texas.

During the six weeks of training, McCracken studied the Air Force mission, organization and customs; performed drill and ceremony marches, and received physical training and special training in human relations. In addition, airmen who complete basic training earn credits toward an associate degree through the Community College of the Air Force.

McCracken is the son of Michal McCracken of Lake in the Hills. He is a 2001 graduate of Prairie Ridge High School in Crystal Lake.

- Navy Ensign Bonnie R. Niggemann graduated from the U.S. Naval Academy in Annapolis, Md. and was commissioned to her current rank in the U.S. Navy.
