Bob Bullock Texas State History Museum 1800 N. Congress Ave (512-936-8746). This museum, which is named for the former Texas lieutenant governor, houses three floors of exhibits that trace the history of Texas. Feb 28-Aug 22: Texas Flags 1836-1945--the history, symbolism, and events behind more than two dozen rare Texas banners. Harry Ransom Humanities Research Center UT campus, 21st & Guadalupe (512-471-8944). Items in the center's collection range from a Gutenberg Bible to the world's first photograph (taken in 1826). The center also houses some 37 million literary manuscripts including those by James Joyce, Ernest Hemingway, and Tennessee Williams. Thru Mar 7: Make It New: The Rise of Modernism--artifacts that represent the modernist movement of the first half of the twentieth century.
