Big Boy may take a bite out of Mr. Pita

Pita Franchise Corp. is in discussions with Warren-based Big Boy Restaurants International Inc. that may lead to Big Boy purchasing an equity stake.

"We're just talking,'' said Tony Michaels, Big Boy's CEO. "Something could happen, but ... we look at things all the time.''

Frank Lombardo, founder and owner of Pita Franchise, the parent company of Mr. Pita restaurants, also confirmed the talks.

"We are talking,'' he said. "There's nothing to say. If there were, I'd like to talk to the franchisees first.''
