Pangborn to open boutique in U.S. Virgin Islands

Dominic Pangborn plans to open his fourth Pangborn Design Collection store this April, in St. Thomas, U.S. Virgin Islands.

Pangborn said leasing representatives from a retail center in St. Thomas approached him more than a year ago after they visited Pangborn's store at Detroit Metropolitan Airport.

Pangborn's St. Thomas store will be about 900 square feet, which he said is large for the small boutiques popular in the islands. Rolex's store, for example, is only about 500 square feet.

Pangborn, the founder, president and CEO of Detroit-based Pangborn Design Ltd., has been selling merchandise out of the offices of his graphic design office on Iron Street in Detroit for more than 15 years. He opened his first retail-only store at Metro Airport in February 2002. Pangborn's other store is in the Wintergarden at the Renaissance Center in Detroit.
