This list of highlights picks up where the previous list, published in the 10th Anniversary issue of the Melpomene Journal, left off. It is yet another tribute to the many impressive women athletes whose achievements, in just one decade, are an inspiration to us all.

1991

* The NCAA elects Judith Sweet as its first woman president. (2)

* The women's Final Four of college basketball is televised live for the first time. (3)

* The US Women's Soccer team wins the first-ever women's world championship, beating Norway. (3)

* Goalie Jenny Hanley of Hamline University in Minnesota becomes the first woman to play on a men's college hockey team. (3)

1992

* Bonnie Blair wins both the 500-meter and 1,000-meter Olympic speed skating events, becoming the first woman to win two Olympic 500s. She is also the first American woman to win consecutive Winter Olympic championships. (1)

* Evelyn Ashford competes in the Barcelona Games at age 35, finishing her Olympic career with a gold...
