Naperville attorney Kathleen Zellner has received hundreds of letters from desperate prisoners hoping she can get them freed using DNA evidence.

But there was something about Omar Saunders' letter that rang true. He and two other men were serving life sentences without parole for the 1986 rape and murder of medical student Lori Roscetti in Chicago. A fourth man had received a shorter sentence in exchange for testifying against them.

But it wasn't the typical letter repeatedly proclaiming his innocence, Zellner said. Saunders focused specifically on the evidence.
