Los franceses tienen una extraña relación con los aparatos: como les choca que los gringos los hayan inventado primero, deciden mejorarlos. El resultado es fatal: los aparatos hacen lo mismo que los gringos, pero complicadito, con menos eficiencia pero con más teoría. Una teoría para la que el hecho de que el aparato sirva o no, es lo de menos. Así, en la licuadora se concilian el cilantro y El discurso del método. A fuerza de servir a la perfección en la teoría (el concepto, el diseño, la filosofía), el aparato tiende a no servir en la práctica. Si en México las cosas no sirven porque sí, en Francia no sirven por exceso de eficiencia.
