PROJECT OVERVIEW:

An American/Hong Kong joint venture was recently established in view of building a new lubricants plant in China. The partners in the planned undertaking included US-based AMALIE OIL CO. and GEOMAXIMA HOLDING CO. LTD. of Hong Kong. According to Zhao Wenxing, GEOMAXIMA Deputy General Manager, the project is to be implemented in 2 phases. .

The first stage, of undisclosed cost, will involve building a factory in Jinzhou in northeast China's Liaoning province. This unit will be involved in the processing of high-quality lubricant with raw materials supplied by AMALIE.

In a second phase, another factory is to be built in Shanghai's Pudong area. However, the planning for this unit is still said to be under way.

AMALIE, a subsidiary of PACKERS ACQUISITION CORP., employs a total staff of about 90. The company is engaged in the manufacture of lubricating oils and greases as well as plastic bottles.
