COBURG - The clues were planted. The crime scene staged. The bones made of plastic.

Even as the deputies documenting the fake evidence joked about buying dinner with the dirt-encrusted credit cards found inside the phony gravesite, they took their work seriously Tuesday.

For hours they toiled in a field near Coburg, placing each bone in its own labeled paper bag and carefully logging every item as they pulled it from the dark brown soil.
