SITTING AS quiet as a mole-like guest, watching company class of the Royal Danish Ballet in the main rehearsal studio of the Royal Theater, I was started to be introduced to the dancers by Artistic Director Frank Andersen as "someone who had been writing about the company for exactly fifty years." Fifty years! The dancers, or at least some of them, looked even more amazed. I suppose it was tantamount to a person of my own generation being introduced to someone who had reviewed the very first performance of Petipa's The Sleeping Beauty. I tried--sadly without the need for too much effort--to look appropriately ancient. Time flies when you're having fun.
