MOST companies worry when their orders begin to fall off. California Amplifier Inc. had the opposite problem.

This summer, orders from its satellite broadcast customers picked up at such a rapid pace, California Amplifier officials worried that they would not be able to fill the surging demand in time.

As it turned out, the Camarillo-based company's concerns were ill-founded, so much so that by late October, Cal Amp boosted its revenue guidance by 20 percent to 36 percent and its earnings predictions by 40 percent to nearly 50 percent for the company's fiscal third quarter.
