QUARTERBACKS

What a difference a year has made for Oregon's Kellen Clemens. In the days leading up to last year's Seattle Bowl, Clemens was a seldom-used backup who was about to be thrust into postseason action. Now, he's an experienced starter who has been at the helm of the Ducks' resurgence the second half of the 2003 season. Today, however, could bring a situation with which Clemens is unfamiliar: a shootout. The Gophers have scored a ton of points this season, and Clemens may have to keep the Ducks in a high-scoring game, which he has yet to do.

Minnesota has broken or will break just about every offensive school record in the books. Leading the charge is Asad Abdul-Khaliq, who finished third in the country in pass efficiency but is just as well-known for his ability to scramble. Abdul-Khaliq ran for nearly 30 yards a game in the regular season. He also completed 63.8 percent of his passes without sacrificing the deep ball, completing 10 passes of 35 yards or longer this year.
