How big a shock was Monday morning's snow?

Consider the Ferry Street Bridge heading out of downtown: At 9:30 a.m., you could've plopped down in the middle of it and made snow angels. Traffic couldn't get up the white-laden approach.

"They just took off to work like normal, and they didn't expect this," said deputy Lynn Hagues of the Lane County sheriff's office, who - ahem - was also stuck. "I'm not going anywhere right now. Sheesh!"

Good Samaritans offering sand and pushes soon had things moving. Generally, reactions to the season's second recorded snow were based on one's ability to enjoy it.
