I READ IN ONE OF YOUR COLUMNS THAT DANCE TEACHERS CAN BE POSSESSIVE OF THEIR STUDENTS. MY OLD TEACHER WAS LIKE THAT WHEN SHE TOLD ME THAT I'D NEVER BE ANY GOOD WITHOUT HER. I KNOW I HAVE TALENT BECAUSE I NOW HAVE A JOB, BUT SHE CERTAINLY DIDN'T HELP MY CONFIDENCE. I HAD TO DO THAT FOR MYSELF.--JOHN FROM NEW YORK CITY Good for you! Taking responsibility for your feelings, rather than depending on others for your self-esteem, is the best way to build confidence. Likewise, dance teachers need to take care of themselves, without holding on to their students for personal reasons.
