Article Excerpt Adapting to the trend towards convenience foods, snacks, and appetizers is a top priority, not to say obsession, with most major beef-product manufacturers. Analysis by Naples, NY-based Productscan Online, which tracks new product introductions and trends, indicates there have already been more than a half-dozen beef products, which it tags as innovative, introduced in 2003.
These products include a pre-cooked, self-heating beef stew distributed by Lakewood, NJ-based La Briute Meals Inc. The La Briute packages include "their own self-heating units. ... The self-heating process involves a hyperthermic reaction between sodium, magnesium and iron, which occurs when a wetting agent is introduced," explains La Briute documentation.
Omaha, NE-based ConAgra Foods Inc. has introduced a new line of Healthy Choice Flavor Adventures Frozen Meal's, which includes a Grilled Whiskey Steak (in a whiskey BBQ sauce with roasted potatoes and vegetables) and Beef Merlot.
