The first walk Leonard and Tenelle Tolbert made down the aisle led to the altar.

Their latest trip was to accept a pair of bachelor's degrees.

The Hoffman Estates couple, celebrating five years of marriage on July 3, graduated side-by-side Dec. 20 as part of a fast-track program for adults seeking their bachelor's degrees at Roosevelt University.

To them, it was so important for their future children to have a college degree that the couple decided to get theirs first.

The ceremony also served as the fulfillment of a promise to a dying man and the end of a journey of trust and teamwork that few couples...
