The new $2-million Farmer's Central Market planned in Jackson at the corner of Jefferson and High streets near the State Fairgrounds will provide an all-weather facility and replace the present market on Woodrow Wilson near Veterans' Memorial Stadium.

"This will be a farmer's market with variability and accessibility that we have never really had before," said Mississippi Ag Commissioner Lester Spell. "About 35,000 ears per day pass on High Street. People are becoming more and more health conscious about their food, and are looking for locally grown fresh fruits and vegetables."
