ABC picks Pooley as Construction Man of the Year.(Associated Builders and Contractors (ABC) honored Seymour Pooley Jr.)

The country's largest chapter of Associated Builders and Contractors (ABC) put the spotlight on Jackson businessman Seymour Pooley Jr., honoring him as this year's Construction Man of the Year.

Pooley is owner of South Central Heating and Plumbing Co., a 53-year-old mechanical construction business started by his father, Seymour Pooley Sr. Pooley was selected by the Mississippi ABC (MABC) board of directors and honored at the association's annual awards banquet on Nov. 7.

Buddy Edens, executive director of the Mississippi ABC, said Pooley is and has always been a strong proponent of the free enterprise system and merit shop philosophy, "which is what our organization is all about."

"His leadership has set the standard for others to reach, and his commitment to our association and our industry is demonstrated in all of the issues that we consider critical to our industry."
